Connected. Sales commit on the terminal and replicate to head office in the background. The connection is not in the checkout path either way.
Architecture
Why a cloud-only register stalls
If the register has to reach a server before it can price an item, the connection sits directly in the checkout path.
| Capability | Cloud-only POS | SenForge POS |
|---|---|---|
| Network or power outage | The register waits on a server that is not answering. Lanes stop. | The sale completes locally and the receipt prints. The branch syncs later. |
| Scan to price | One to three seconds per scan waiting on a remote round trip. | Resolved against the local catalogue with no network call. |
| Cashier handover | Full logout and login, so lanes end up sharing credentials. | 4-digit switch attributed to a cashier, with manager override logged. |
| Currency and tax | Floating-point arithmetic that drifts over a month of transactions. | Integer currency maths, 7.5% VAT per line item, Z-Reports at close. |
| Multi-branch sync | Unstable connections produce conflicting records and duplicates. | Queued writes merge by branch on reconnect. |
Capabilities
Built around counter throughput and cash accountability
Every capability below exists to make a lane faster or make a cashier's actions traceable.
Sales continue through an outage
Transactions execute against a database on the terminal. When the connection or the mains drops, cashiers keep ringing sales and printing receipts.
Cashier switch in one action
Hand a lane to the next cashier without closing the cart. Five failed attempts lock the terminal, and a manager PIN is required to release it.
Stock ledger across every branch
Catalogue changes propagate to all branches. Reorder thresholds raise purchase orders, and pharmacy stock is tracked by batch and expiry.
Runs the peripherals you already own
ESC/POS thermal printers over USB, network or serial, handheld scanners, weighing scales and cash drawers, with no custom drivers.
Exact currency arithmetic
Integer currency maths with no rounding drift, 7.5% Nigerian VAT broken down per line item, and end-of-day Z-Reports that reset the daily counters.
Multi-tender checkout
Cash, in-store card terminals, instant bank transfers, and a single transaction split across more than one tender.
Retail verticals
Configured per retail environment
A supermarket, a pharmacy and a wholesale grocer have different stock rules. The terminal adapts to each rather than the other way round.
High-volume lanes that do not stall
Keep every counter moving through peak hours. Ring up thousands of items a day, integrate produce scales, and print continuous receipts without waiting on a server.
- Barcode scan to price lookup resolved on the terminal, over catalogues in the tens of thousands of SKUs
- Produce scale integration with price-by-weight calculated at the lane
- Cashier shift float tracking with drawer reconciliation at handoff
- 7.5% Nigerian VAT receipts formatted for tax compliance

Cash control
Every override is attributable
Register shrinkage is usually an accountability problem, not a technology problem. These controls close the gaps.
Manager PIN overrides
Discounts, line deletions, voids and price overrides all require a manager PIN, and each one records a timestamp and a station.
Shift float and drawer reconciliation
Cashiers declare an opening float before the first sale. At close the system produces a blind count comparison, so shortages surface the same day.
X and Z reports
Mid-shift X-Reports give a running audit without clearing totals. End-of-day Z-Reports reset the daily counters and post sales to the ledger.
Hardware
Works with standard retail peripherals
No custom drivers and no vendor lock-in on the counter hardware.
